The HUB + SWEET PLUMS - Nobody sleeps when The Hub are in town!
The HUB - A rip roaring, boot stomping combination of fast folk, original material and top indie covers featuring our whistle mans’ new 70’s cowboy hair do, an enthusiastic drummer with overactive eyebrows, a radio-active bass player, and a furry blacksmith who lives in a tree with his guitar, mandolin and a blunt razor. Nobody sleeps when The Hub are in town - Rock n roll! http://www.myspace.com/rockwiththehub
Sweet Plums are on a mission to convince people that folk music is no longer the bastion of pipe smoking, sweater wearing, finger in the ear, singers called Brian. Using upbeat tunes, waltz timings, east european vibes, a working knowledge of the key of A and no small amount of innuendo, they aim to bring the party directly to you. All you have to do is face the right way, drink, laugh and dance. Falling over is optional. Dosn't sound too bad, does it? |

MARCUS MALONE + Support:The Blue Trees “….Malone's extraordinary voice defaults to a sound not unlike Paul Rogers in the best of his Free days, but then moves effortlessly into areas more usually occupied by Bobby Womack or even, on occasion, James Brown. His guitar-shredding technique perfectly compliments the pure lyrical sweetness”
If your idea of a good night out is Museum Grade blues, faithfully executed reconstructions of songs by Lucile Bogen or Scrapper Blackwell, then The Marcus Malone Band is not for you. If on the other hand you want an hour and a half of good-time-double-barrelled-sawed-off-twelve-bar, then get yourself along to a Marcus Malone gig.
From the menacing opening number 'Drowning Man' to the tempo-flipping, early ZZ Topp-esque finale number, 'Blue Radio', Mr Malone and his band delivered a tight, extremely well-played show, engineered to kick-ass.
This is not to suggest that these gentlemen do not know their musical heritage. They do, intimately; they just wear the mantle lightly. Listen carefully and at moments you can hear spirits from Robert Johnson to Jimi Hendrix come shining through.
Malone's extraordinary voice defaults to a sound not unlike Paul Rogers in the best of his Free days, but then moves effortlessly into areas more usually occupied by Bobby Womack or even, on occasion, James Brown. His guitar-shredding technique perfectly compliments the pure lyrical sweetness, and the Stevie Ray Vaughn-like lightning fills of stupidly talented lead guitarist Stuart Dixon. While the rhythm section of Chris Luton (drums) and the bass of Jonathan Banks (looking and sounding like a young Donald (Duck) Dunn), provide a fluid yet brick-house-solid base.
The band play only Malone's original material, and while the lyrics are not exceptional, ("kiss your tender lips, caress your fingertips"), with this much well played music, who the hell cares? It's rocky, powerful, funky, evil, sexy, creepy and loving by turns, but usually lyrical and always, always powerful, in-yer-face, good time blues.
Their stage presence is great, that of competent, confident musicians having a great time doing what they do best, which is playing music. The usual look-at-me poserness of men-with-guitars was almost completely absent. On the one occasion that Mr Malone attempted to do the "Rock-Star-Thang", he fell off the stage and couldn't get back on for some minutes. To his eternal credit, he didn't miss a beat of the guitar duet he was playing at the time. Let this be a lesson Mr M. You don't need to do it.
They really are a party in a box, and if there was any justice in the world, these guys would be the very definition of popular music.
Look out for these guys, with their combination of new material and interesting reworkings of standard tunes (most notably a version of the Rolling Stones' 'You Gotta Move'), they are shaping up to be one of the better prospects for the next few years.” - Mark Etchells from the BBC Website www.myspace.com/marcusmaloneband

The ROLLING ZONES the ultimate in “Stones” entertainment !
The
Rolling Zones burst to the fore in 2009 when Mick Jogger and Charlie Rocks,
both formerly of the Rollin’ Clones, decided to get back on the road after a
“sabbatical” spell . The show is full of action, colour and above all a real expression of “live” essential Rolling Stones songs, great for listening, dancing and having a wild time !
All the members of The Rolling Zones are very experienced musicians with both Mick Jogger and Charlie Rocks bringing many years of touring and performing Stones material to the mix. The result...a fresh and dramatic interpretation played with a raw, deft yet powerful feel! |

WHO’S NEXT, the UK's premier live tribute to The Who.
They capture a magical point in time when many believe that The Who were the greatest rock and roll band on earth. Who's Next's live show aims to recreate this period in the early 1970's with the aid of authentic stage wear and instruments. The result is a time capsule ride back to the days of Live at Leeds, The Isle of Wight Festival, Tanglewood and the Fillmore shows. It is a must for any Who fan! Their set includes all of Pete Townshend's classic pop songs from adrenaline-fuelled Mod classics such as “I can't explain”, “Substitute” and “Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere” to the psychedelic imagery of “Tommy's” “Pinball Wizard”, “Sparks” and “Amazing Journey”, not forgetting rock anthems like “My Generation”, “Baba O'Riley” and a show-stopping version of “Won't Get Fooled Again”. Since the band first formed in the summer of 2003 they have toured extensively in the UK and in Europe. Who's Next have performed at Europe's most prestigious music venues and festivals. In August 2007 they played to an audience of over 6,000 people at the Bulldog Bash, Europe's largest biker's festival. |

BEN MILLS….of X Factor Fame…but he’s an accomplished musician & Songwriter!
Kent based Ben Mills shot to fame after coming third on series three of the X Factor in 2006. His success on this show resulted in a recording contract with SonyBMG and the subsequent release of his debut album, "Picture Of You", in March 2007.
Since then Ben has travelled the length and breadth of the country, appearing at a range of venues to rave reviews. His natural talent for performing live, coupled with the reputation he has for always giving time to his fans, is securing him a very strong following.
As well as being an accomplished musician, playing both the guitar and piano, Ben is also an extremely talented songwriter. In June 2009, established soul singer, Mica Paris, released her "Born Again" album and included a cover version of "Nothing But The Truth", having fallen in love with the song when she heard it. Ben has also co-written a song called "Old Habits Die Hard" with Irish singer/songwriter, Marc Roberts, for Marc's latest album, "The Promise".
Over the past year Ben has dedicated time to writing and recording material for his second album and previews of some of these new songs can be found on his Official MySpace page.
In addition to pursuing his solo career, Ben recently formed and fronts the Rod Stewart tribute band, Simply Rod. Ben is the patron for two local charities, Walk With Michael and Miles Of Smiles : Kent Kids. He also actively supports Demelza House, a children's residential hospice in Sittingbourne, Kent. |
